Our Mission:
Louisiana
Senior Olympic Games (LSOG)
is a nonprofit organization that promotes physical fitness and
an improved quality of life for people over 50 through sports
and physical training. (For the first
time, in 2006, the Senior Olympic Games State
Track & Field competition will be open to Masters
Athletes age 40+) LSOG plans, promotes, and
conducts a statewide program, which includes ten competitions held
at the local or district level, an annual State
Championship Games, and
participation in biennial National Senior Games -The Senior
Olympics. |

STATE GAMES:
The annual State Championship Games are held in Baton
Rouge each Fall and are OPEN to OUT OF STATE
individuals. The State Games start in mid-August
and continue through early November. The current schedule of events for the 2008 games will be available in late May. LSOG is the only National
Qualifying site in Louisiana.
Most sports are open, however, athletes must
qualify at one of the District Games to be eligible for the
State Games in the following events:

For the first time LSOG State Track & Field
events will be open to "Masters Athletes" age 40+. If you are a Masters Athlete and wish to
compete in the State Championship Games in October, please

DISTRICT GAMES:
There are nine District
Games located in major geographic areas of the state. They
are the LSOG Sanctioned Games that qualify athletes for The State
Championship
Games in certain sports. Most District Games are held in the Spring and are
open to all age 50 and above athletes.

A District may qualify the maximum number of in-district
athletes for an event in addition to the out-of-district/state
athletes that meet the criteria. Some of the District Games
are open to athletes age 40+.

a success. We encourage individuals, civic & community
organizations, church groups and company employee groups to
donate some of their time and talent to help the Senior Olympic
Games and assist us in promoting
health and fitness for older adults. |
