To Participate in the State Games:

Our Mission:  Louisiana Senior Olympic Games (LSOG) is a nonprofit organization that promotes physical fitness and an improved quality of life for people over 50 through sports and physical training.

LSOG plans, promotes, and conducts a statewide program, which includes competitions held at the local or district level, an annual state event, and participation in biennial National Senior Games - The Senior Olympics.

Entry forms for the Louisiana State Senior Olympic Games Championship Games are available in July of each year.

The annual State Championship Games are held each Fall and are OPEN to OUT OF STATE individuals. The State Games start in mid-August and continue through September & October. In 2011 the State Games will be held in Lafayette, LA.

Most sports are open, however, athletes must qualify at one of the District Games to be eligible for the State Games in the following events.

The LSOG State Track & Field, Cycling, and Archery events are open to "Masters Athletes" age 40+.  If you are a Masters Athlete and wish to compete in the State Championship Games in November, please call (337) 262-5990 x16 or email lsog@lsog.net for more info.

LSOG Update

At this point, I’m sure everyone is aware of the drastic measures LSOG had to take in order to continue forward.  Although, we have been out of touch, our efforts remain focused on the 2011 State Championships.

The easiest way to explain what has happened would be to say that we had to move out of our office and into a storage unit.  During the move, our computer system crashed leaving us unable to connect with our members.  The phone lines were left behind and disconnected, or so we thought.  We apologize for any and all inconveniences, but we are attempting to stand back up and move on the best way possible.

The majority of this year’s State Games are scheduled to take place between November 7 and November 20.  Due to some scheduling conflicts, a few of the events will take place outside of this time frame.  Remember, the 2011 State Games will be held in Lafayette, LA, and we welcome any Out of State individuals.

Entry forms will be available on line or through your District Coordinator at a local Council on Aging office.  Please contact your District Coordinator for a location near you.

Due to the urgency of getting material out, this year’s State Games will be open to anyone that participated in one of our District meets.  If you missed out on qualifying, and want to “give it another shot”; please make plans to join us in Lafayette.

To Participate in the District Games:

There are nine District Games located in major geographic areas of the state. They are the LSOG Sanctioned Games that qualify athletes for The State Championship Games in certain sports. Most District Games are held in the Spring and are open to all age 50 and above athletes. A District may qualify the maximum number of in-district athletes for an event in addition to the out-of-district/state athletes that meet the criteria. Some of the District Games are open to athletes age 40+.
